Known for turning cross-hatching into a distinctive visual language, Ashok Bhowmick builds figurative images from rhythm, density and carefully controlled line.
Born in Nagpur in 1953, Bhowmick graduated from Kanpur University in 1973. His practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture and writing.
Working across paper and canvas, he uses interlaced lines to shape light, shadow and human presence. The Foundation’s featured drawing pairs a direct figure study with an expressive, open line.
The Saraswati Foundation collection includes a figurative work by Ashok Bhowmick. Its assured lines and open composition offer an intimate view of his practice.
The featured work is catalogued in the Saraswati Foundation collection.
